John Wilson is an extension educator working as unit leader and in agricultural, horticultural and youth programs for the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension in Burt County.
John has worked extensively with crop production, pasture management and water quality issues. His current focus is in the area of integrated pest management of corn, soybeans and alfalfa.
He has worked extensively on detection and management of soybean cyst nematodes.
John earned his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1975 and 1977, respectfully.
He had a dual major in Agronomy (Crop Production) and Agricultural Education for his undergraduate degree and his graduate major was Agronomy (Crop Production) with a minor in Animal Science.
During college, John worked in the Cooperative Extension office in Lancaster County as an Urban 4-H Aide for a year and a half and in the Cooperative Extension office in Merrick County for two
summers as a 4-H Assistant.
John is a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), and a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Nebraska Cooperative Extension Association, the National County Agricultural Agents Association,
and the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents
